A History Of Legal Excellence
When our predecessors founded this law firm 60 years ago, it was a general practice firm. Over time, we have adapted and narrowed our practice. For more than 20 years, our firm has focused almost exclusively on business law and personal injury litigation. Our lawyers deal with business disputes and personal injury matters so that our clients can rest easy. We fight to protect their interests, keeping them informed at every step.
Protecting Civil Rights
We believe that civil rights ought to belong to everyone, not just those who can pay for them. We work with the local American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) affiliate, and through it, with individuals and other organizations such as local grassroots organizations like Direct Action for Rights and Equality, or DARE. The cases we handle involve due process issues. If someone loses a government right or benefit, but did not receive adequate notice, or the hearing was patently unfair, we are sometimes asked to represent that person. We ensure that the government adheres to due process before depriving anyone of a right or privilege.
Finding Creating Solutions
We apply a creative decision making process to each and every issue we handle. No two legal matters are the same. Our lawyers will work with you closely to gain an understanding of the nuances of your issue so we can craft a legal plan uniquely suited to the circumstances. Some disputes are best solved through strong litigation, but that should never be the only tool at a firm’s disposal. We are always prepared for trial, but are also adept at resolving disputes through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods such as mediation.
Giving Back To The Community
Rhode Island has been very good to us. It has given us a wonderful place to raise our families and an opportunity to run a business that we love. In exchange, we provide some services pro bono. We are active in the American and Rhode Island Bar Associations, Inns of Court, the Adjudicative Society, the Defense Research Institute and the Commercial Law League.
